Known for hard punch line lyrics and celebrated as the queen of Cameroon’s hip hop, Askia is one artist who has been here for a while and has gotten a name in the streets. Beginning her career in afro-pop music with her single ‘tata obase’ she soon found her true calling in rap music.
With several singles to her name including the national street anthem ‘welcome for kwata’ Askia soon caught the attention of producer and head of Alpha Better records Salatiel who quickly signed the talented urban music artist.

With a new record deal came a new kind of #Askia, a sexier version and now the label has released her brand new and first single as an Alpha Better recording artist titled ‘ma valeur.’ In this new single produced by the hit maker himself Salatiel, the talented artist sings about a broken girl. A girl who left her good grades from school to be with a man who never appreciates anything she does.
Also, he belittles her, making her feel worthless in front of his friends and family until one day she finds her strength and walks out of the pain. Putting her past behind, she goes on to work hard and becomes a ‘boss lady.’ Seeing her new glory, the guy tries to win her back but she turns him down. The song is basically about not letting anyone make you feel less of yourself; it’s about self-worth and self-love.
Going back to where she all began, Askia is proving herself as the versatile music artist who can rap today and do afro pop tomorrow.
