40 it is for Tenitra Michelle Williams, the 3rd musketeer of our beloved American girl group, Destiny’s Child. Beyoncé’s sissy from another mother just turned 40. And we can certainly say this woman is blossoming into quite a fashion icon. While things have not been going well in her personal life, we can say her fashion game is right on the money.
In December 2018, the songstress split from her fiancé, Pastor Chad Johnson. Surprisingly, on the same day, she dropped her latest single, “Fearless.” The couple had earlier announced their engagement exclusively to PEOPLE in April 2018. Michelle and Chad met on March 2017 at an Arizona spiritual retreat run by Chad.
Following her split from Chad, Michelle took a leave of absence from her role as Erzulie. That’s the Broadway musical, Once on This Island, on the advice of her doctors. It was not clear why Michelle’s doctors ordered her to step away from the play. However, we are aware that Michelle has spoken on several occasions about her ongoing struggles with depression.
#THISIS40: Tenitra Michelle Williams Celebrates Birthday
2019 started off rather quiet for the singer who was conspicuously missing in May when Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland were videoed in the crowd for Janet Jackson’s Las Vegas residency Metamorphosis at Park MGM resort.
However, in June, Michelle was spotted on the red carpet of the Wearable Art Gala, hosted annually by Beyoncé’s mum, Tina Knowles-Lawson and her husband, Richard Lawson. Donning a black, tulle ball gown, she was effervescent and ethereal.
The Lion King
Meanwhile, in true sisterhood, Michele was present on July 9, 2019, at the premiere of The Lion King. This was to support Beyoncé, who stars as Nala. Michele shined in her own light in a sparkling display of a gorgeous mirrored mosaic dress.
For her 40th birthday look, Michelle rocks a Michael Costello dress, a vision of true watercolour art, styled by J.Bolin. In her words, “I don’t know what this age is supposed to feel like but I feel like a kid!” We truly hope this child-like feeling continues and away with the depressive funk. We are rooting for you girl. Happy birthday!
